What happens at a Pop in session? Well, basically we just relax, drink tea, laugh, eat yummy biscuits, chat, read the papers, snooze a little, play cards, watch TV, tell jokes and funny stories, diddle about on the computer, play the guitar, do a puzzle, sing, paint.

Have some Indian Head Massage or Reflexology. Play pool  , do some Tai Chi. Play table tennis, go on outings to the theatre, ten pin bowling or whatever else takes our fancy. Use a computer, have lively debates, talk about food, drink coffee and laugh some more. Click HERE for more

For over 25 years, the Abbey Road Centre has been providing a wide range of services to the local community here in Bangor, and to the surrounding Counties of Anglesey,Gwynedd and Conwy.

Throughout the years, Abbey Road has adapted to changes in the needs of the people who use the Centre, and has tailored the services it provides to meet those needs.

Founded way back in 1983, the Centre was initially run by a small group of volunteers, providing a 'befriending and refreshment service' alongside the psychiatric clinic that was based here at that time.

Since then, ARC  has gone from strength to strength, providing a home over the years to many organisations, including Mind, The Samaritans, Cruse, The Rape Crisis Line, The Domestic Abuse Forum, Relate and Cais.

Today, the Centre not only provides a permanent office base for organisations including the Mental Health Advocacy Scheme,  Supervised Child Contact Service, Unllais and Torlan, but also offers a confidential and comfortable location for a range of counseling services to take place.  These include Cruse [bereavement care], Relate, Cais [Cyngor alcohol information service], Rasasc [Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre],  and Shelter Cymru, to name but a few.

Our Direct Service Pop in is open 5 days a week,  to which anyone who is suffering from, or who has suffered from, a mental health related problem, is welcome to drop in and enjoy a range of related services including Tai Chi, Indian Head Massage, or simply a nice cup of tea and a friendly chat.

The Abbey Road Centre continues to adapt to the changing needs of those making good use of its services, and provides a wide range of information and resources related to mental health issues, in addition to providing a home to small non-funded groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and the OCD Support Group.
